EIIC Immigration Services

Not quite the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) but many of our callers are glad that EIIC is there when they can't get anyone in the real INS to answer simple questions. EIIC immigration services will provide you with information on the procedures for most immigration matters; re-entry permits, lost or replacement green cards, all visa types etc. EIIC does now have a lawyer on staff who can deal with all kinds of Immigration questions and cases.

EIIC Citizenship Services

EIIC operates a Citizenship Program, by appointment, where you can be photographed and assisted with forms. Until recently EIIC provided fingerprinting services but these will now be taken only by the INS or the police. These are two of the three ingredients necessary for a complete citizenship application and are provided in one stop at the Center. The service is given at times which suit the working adult. In the last two years EIIC has helped over a thousand immigrants become U.S. citizens. EIIC strongly urges those eligible to pursue citizenship and play an active role in American life.

EIIC Employment Services

If you are looking for work or you are an employer looking for quality employees, why not avail of EIIC's employment service? This free service is available to everyone and we has referred hundreds of job-seekers over the last five years. The Center also advises on how to conduct a successful job-search in the United States, a daunting procedure for many newcomers.

If you are an employer with an available position in the New York City area please contact us. top

EIIC College Information Services

EIIC has long encouraged immigrants to avail of college opportunities in the United States and has been very instrumental in creating a culture of further studies among recent immigrants. In 1993, EIIC produced "Education: In Pursuit of the American Dream," a complete guide to the system from the perspective of an Irish immigrant. The guide was co-authored by Paul Finnegan and Tom Kirwan.
With the assistance of the American Irish Teachers' Association mentoring team, EIIC has hosted numerous successful education seminars over the years, thereby bringing many prospective immigrant students into contact with committed community volunteer mentors.

Health Awareness Counseling

We have also expanded our helping role in the community in response to the great need for people to have a trained and sympathetic ear to listen to their stories in a confidential and safe setting. Our trained listener can be the 1st step in taking care of your emotional health needs. Experienced listeners can often direct people to the help they need and be a source of new information about a problem you may be burdened by. top

EIIC Seniors Services

The EIIC has a dedicated Seniors Counselor Maire Kerins who works from both EIIC offices. She works from Queens Mondays, & Wednesdays through Friday. She can assist you on Tuesdays in Woodlawn by appointment with any inquiry you may have about benefits, the new medicare system, social security or returning home to Ireland enquiries.

Bilateral Social Security agreement between US & Ireland

Please ask us to help you get your pension and benefits from Ireland. We have been able to help many Seniors to secure their entitlements from the Irish Government under the Bilateral Social Security Agreement. Don't miss out on anything you may be entitled to either from the US or Irish Government- ring us up, call in and visit - we will be glad to help and fill in all the paperwork with you. For instance if you worked in Ireland prior to 1955 you may be entitled to claim a pension or other benefits.top

The Safe Home Program: Are you a Senior thinking of returning to Ireland?

The Safe Home Program is a repatriation program for Irish Emigrants and has been designated by the Irish Government as the National repatriation Program. By lobbying local Authorities a small percentage of housing is available to Irish Seniors looking to move back to Ireland and who may lack the economic resources to do so. Most of the seniors who have participated in the program have relocated from the UK, but there has been some participation from the US. The St. Brendan's Village project in Mulranny, Co. Mayo is one of the more well known examples of the program. Please contact us here in the center for more information.

Medicare Questions

Our Seniors counselor is more than happy to explain the medicare bill and its effects for Seniors to you. We can also arrange group seminars and Question & Answer sessions about topics affecting the seniors population.
